Vascular Sonography Technologist

Capable clinician, focused on expanding knowledge and skills. Responsible for providing patient services using medical ultrasound under the supervision of a physician responsible for the use and interpretation of ultrasound procedures. Provides effective direct care, as part of the interdisciplinary team, to a variety of complex patients. Assumes a beginning leadership role but seeks mentoring in this process.
  • Performs appropriate ultrasound and plethysmography procedures and records anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
  • Assists the physician in gathering sonographic data necessary to diagnose arterial and venous conditions and diseases and identify normal and abnormal flow dynamics.
  • Obtains, reviews, and integrates pertinent patient medical history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results.
  • Provides patient education related to medical ultrasound.
  • Records and processes sonographic data.
  • Provides patient services in a variety of medical settings.
  • Performs quality assurance checks on equipment, ensuring proper safety standards are met.
Position Compensation Range: $28.96 - $46.34 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Must meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound or echocardiography ultrasound certification with either CCI or ARDMS; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum two years clinical experience
  • License/Certification: Credentials from ARDMS or CCI as a Registered Vascular Technologist or Registered Vascular Specialist required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping and traveling; Repetitive motion: Scanning involves holding a transducer in place on the patient's body for periods of time and maintaining the sonographer's body in position, allowing access to anatomy being scanned. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, fumes, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
