The University of Virginia Advancement team has an exciting opportunity for an entry-level Systems Engineer. The primary functions of this position will be to:

Help maintain integrity of the database of record.

Aid in the analysis, design, creation and programming of data load routines from multiple sources.

Ensure the success of system transformation by maintaining data integrity, data mapping, testing and validation.

Be part of a team monitoring mission-critical systems and scheduled processes.
Candidates for this role will have a strong technical foundation building and optimizing data systems, a love of learning, and the ability to develop relationships across reporting lines. You will enjoy working in an agile environment with cross-functional teams. Excellent candidates will be able to adapt their communication style, collaborating with technical colleagues and diverse subject matter experts. You will work directly with our stakeholders for data needs and troubleshooting.
You will complete complex assignments both independently and collaboratively to help maintain continuity of operations during transition from legacy systems. Salesforce CRM, Marketing Cloud, Cvent, Eventbrite, EverTrue, GiveCampus and other digital platforms will be part of our evolving technology ecosystem.
Shifting priorities and flexible collaboration across departments with multiple stakeholders are to be expected and will create meaningful ROI and progressive wins.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, programming, related disciplines or equivalent related experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Required Experience

Familiarity with various coding languages and the basics of PL/SQL or TSQL as in Oracle, SQL Server, etc.

Must have the ability to quickly learn and understand new technical systems.

Be action-oriented and demonstrate problem-solving skills.

Ability to be flexible and meet deadlines by handling shifting priorities and multiple tasks effectively.

Act as technical liaison for vendors and UVA stakeholders.

Experience participating in team-driven, deadline-oriented environment using project management tools and agile methods.
Preferred Experience

Familiarity with CRMs and reporting systems, such as Salesforce, Blackbaud, Ellucian, Tableau, Microsoft Dynamics.

Proficiency in PL/SQL or TSQL, such as in Oracle, SQL Server, etc.

Programming skills such as Python, Java, .net/C#, C++ and JavaScript.

Familiarity with Student Information System (SIS), National Change of Address (NCOA) and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

Salesforce CRM experience and certifications (Admin/Developer) are pluses.
