The role of this incumbent is to assist the Director in facilitating daily operations in the Billing Office with a focus on process, technology and data analysis.
  • Analyzes A/R trends and provides feedback to UPG operational units.
  • Monitors departmental request quality to ensure appropriate communications with customer.
  • Participates in various UPG and Health System team-based groups as required.
  • Responsible for approval of all GE dictionary and claim form changes.
  • Provides feedback to contract review team during negotiations and post-implementation of payer contracts.
  • Ensures timely completion of administrative budgets to UPG Accounting annually.
  • Works with Billing Operations Analyst on Billing Staff meeting planning.
  • Provides ad hoc reporting to Director as required.
  • Monitors changes in payer requirements relative to billing.
  • Works with Compliance and Front End Operations to ensure quality measurements are maintained.
  • Approves policies and procedures submitted by Assistant Manager.
  • Creates and maintains response plan based on input from UPG Audit.
  • Expands usage of PXP tool to supervisors and staff.
  • Attends quarterly meetings with clinic personnel as needed.
  • Represents B/C interests regarding new GE initiatives.
  • Responsible for all new SMS plan code and FSC mapping.
  • Provides monthly management report to Director as instructed.
  • Ensures the integrity of data flow through Metro II to credit bureaus.
  • Serves as back-up to Director as required.
  • Expands usage of electronic claims and remit programs with payers.
  • Analyzes discrepancy report data and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Fosters employee growth opportunity through creation of employee growth program.
  • Maintains relationship with UPG Decision Support to facilitate ongoing reporting issues.
  • Assigns duties to Assistant Manager as needed.
  • Works with UPG IS on technical requirements with B/C projects and initiatives.
  • Responds to patient and clinic questions as required.
  • Works closely with Patient Access.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Education: BS degree in a related field.
  • Experience: Four or more years of administrative experience, including two years of experience in the administration of a major healthcare operation.
  • Licensure: None.
  • Skills: Knowledge of and experience utilizing a personal computer. Word-processing and spreadsheet skills required.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
