Senior Digital Strategist

The Senior Digital Strategist is a key leader and contributor to the UVA School of Medicine digital strategy endeavors.

This person will coordinate digital and content strategy work at all levels of the School of Medicine, from executive leadership and departmental stakeholders to faculty and staff who manage individual website content. Throughout all stages of planning, development and delivery, this person will work with internal team members and outside contractors to deliver best-in-class digital strategy and content that supports the key missions and goals of the School of Medicine. This role also supports other ad hoc digital and content platforms for the School of Medicine, such as the weekly Medicine in Motion newsletter and the Making of Medicine blog.
  • Partner with School of Medicine leaders to set the overall vision for the website, as well as other key content/distribution channels.
  • Work collaboratively to determine web/digital project needs, define project scope and develop timelines.
  • Help balance strategic and departmental objectives, considering other projects in development with available team capacity.
  • Determine required internal and/or external resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Commit to best practices when developing content on School of Medicine websites to meet accessibility standards.
  • Responsible for design and content changes to websites and ensuring that reasonable standards for timeliness and quality are met.
  • Responsible for defining and ensuring the content accuracy of key School of Medicine websites.
  • Manage vendors and contractors that assist with website development, photography and written web content to develop new web features.
  • Help define web content strategies to match the internal goals of School of Medicine leadership and external audience needs.
  • Work across the School of Medicine and UVA Health System to build alliances that best serve internal and external web users.
  • Provide support to web editors across the School of Medicine and UVA Health aiming to develop self-sufficiency in maintaining integrity of their WordPress websites.
  • Stay current on new tools, features and technologies.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other content related duties may be assigned.

  • Working knowledge of and experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • WordPress experience or comparative content management system experience.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics.
  • Ability to run meetings effectively and efficiently, solicit and package information, and establish consensus across various stakeholders.
  • Ability to set timelines and coordinate agreement of workload and project prioritization.
  • Strong organizational management and adherence to deadlines.

Position Compensation Range: $59,072.00 - $94,515.20 Annually

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of effective experience is required.
  • Licensure: None required.

Proficient oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership, creativity, integrity and innovative problem solver. Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals (different levels). Active social media participant.
