The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia's School of Medicine seeks applicants for a Data Technician. The Department of Pediatrics has developed a unique instance of Salesforce that serves as a repository of faculty and department administrative data. The data technician will be assigned tasks based on the current needs of the Salesforce initiative. Responsibilities include quality assurance, data integrity checks, and ongoing data entry to achieve deliverables and the timely completion of milestones related to data supporting several functions, including fiscal administration, procurement, human resources, academic support, student services, and other administrative functions. The data technician will work independently and participate in the planning and execution of Salesforce governance.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Collect and document descriptive, analytical, and evaluative data in support of Salesforce initiative(s).
  • Gather data/information from multiple sources and verify its accuracy.
  • Enter data to meet database rules and requirements of completeness and consistency.
  • Transcribe, produce, revise, and store written text, graphs, and numerical data.
  • Enter data, including inputting text and numerical information from source documents and reviewing data for deficiencies or errors.
  • Populate complete and accurate Salesforce records.
  • Complete tasks as assigned on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Attend Salesforce team meetings.
  • Procure and gather data from multiple sources through observation, data requests, and analysis of records.
  • Verify data from completed Salesforce (experience cloud) forms for accuracy and completeness and revise, if necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and analysis.
  • Keep information confidential.
  • Ensure proper use of office equipment and address any malfunctions.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Qualified candidates must have:
  • Education: High school diploma.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, specifically with Excel.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience with Salesforce or other databases preferred.

Physical Demands:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA. This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need and the availability of funding. The anticipated hiring range is $15.00/hour to $17/hour, commensurate with education and experience.
