6 West is a 30-bed Neurosurgery and Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery acute care unit. Our interdisciplinary team cares for patients with spine surgeries, spinal cord injuries, head injuries, brain tumors, pituitary tumors, hydrocephalus, brain hemorrhages, intracranial vascular abnormalities and head and neck cancer. Our unit boasts countless opportunities for learning, both from patients and from certified, experienced colleagues. The Neurosciences and Behavior Health Center also nurtures educational and research endeavors and functions as a pioneer for both clinical and technological advances. It offers members a professional and dynamic environment in which to practice and develop. Just how good are we? This position is for an entry-level professional nurse focused primarily on developing knowledge and skills. Provides safe patient care at a basic level and shows growth in ability to care for increasingly complex patients. Manages care and implements treatment plans at a basic skill level in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians and other members of the healthcare team. Requires consultation with more experienced clinicians and benefits from feedback.

Position Compensation Range: $27.00 - $44.36 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • Experience: No experience required.
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
