Registered Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse Clinical Trainer

The Clinical Trainer (Float) is responsible for providing clinical support to physicians, patients and clinical staff in a medical office. The position will support clinical training to ensure consistency across the network and assist the charge nurses in daily operations as assigned. These duties may include overseeing clinical quality, assisting in the training of staff, providing Team Care guidance and support, and being active in clinical optimization. The Clinical Trainer (Float) will work closely with the CPG clinical leadership team to enhance overall staff efficiency and compliance, serving as a positive role model and fostering a team approach.
  • Function as an Epic SuperUser, and subject matter expert. Provides direct support through education and training to clinical staff.
  • Support travel to function in the following roles:
    • Team care train the trainer: Lead and initiate training courses for new team care employees.
    • New employee educator: Provide Epic and one-on-one clinical support during initial hire.
    • Patient Care Specialist II: Function as clinical support to both patients and providers.
    • Team Care Assistant: Provide clinical support and act as a scribe for providers.
  • Coordinate staff education and training to establish standard work across the CPG network.
  • Assist with vaccination and screening to staff and providers in assistance with UVA Workmed protocol as assigned.
  • Assist with staff training and development to ensure effective performance and promote engagement.
  • Attend staff meetings or huddles to keep staff apprised of activities and decisions.
  • Serve as back-up to patient care specialist and team care specialist as assigned.
  • Gather preliminary patient history and input into medical record system prior to visit for physician review.
  • Document in the medical record services provided, orders, medications and other activities performed by licensed independent providers in real time during patient encounters. Ensure thoroughness of medical documentation and coordination and integration of medical tests/labs/imaging for ready access by the physicians while scribing.
  • Administer medications. Perform venipuncture; start and regulate IV fluids.
  • Perform laboratory tests. Responsible for specimen processing, test performance and reporting test results as ordered by the provider.
  • Assist physicians in procedures and perform various tests independently.
  • Operate clinical equipment to include spirometry, audiometry, tympanogram, EKG and vision tester.
  • Other duties that may be specific to satellite medical practice.
  • Participate in CPG and corporate goals.
  • Act as a liaison between the practice and clinical leadership.
  • Attend meetings as required.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Must have experience operating electrocardiogram, lab and other medical equipment.
  • Licensure: Current Virginia RN or LPN license.Presentation of state license documentation is required upon employment and annually thereafter.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Experience utilizing a personal computer and efficient typing skills. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and Universal Precautions protocols.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Clinical duties in a busy medical office environment. Ability to travel to all of the CPG practices as needed. Physical activity required would include the ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 pounds, and would involve standing for prolonged periods of time, as well as frequently bending/stooping and walking. Physical hazards include potential exposure to body fluids and associated pathogens/infectious disease, as well as potential exposure to chemicals.
