The University of Virginia seeks a Project Manager for UVA|Northern Virginia, reporting to the Dean, and who will be dedicated to driving measurable outcomes for degree, non-degree and certificate programs to address increasing demand for in-person and online learning in the Northern Virginia region. While building new programs, this leader will draw from the academic resources of The University of Virginia. The Northern Virginia initiative is an entrepreneurial unit and will address a range of innovative, evolving educational opportunities in the Northern Virginia region and beyond.
The Project Manager will support the collaboration to ensure delivery of synchronous and asynchronous online and in-person educational programs, while providing strong, values-driven leadership for faculty and staff. Project managers oversee a project, serving as the primary client contact once a project has been established, and are directly responsible for any project's success. The candidate will have significant project management experience, and establishing capability in the evolving range of educational products will allow them to operate with little supervision. Responsibilities:

Develop systems and processes necessary for the recruitment, tracking, planning and execution of projects.

Attend client meetings for ongoing and prospective projects. Arrange, manage and maintain relevant relationships.

Oversee the development of relevant project proposals and budgets and recommend approval of them before submission to clients.

Analyze short-term and long-term resource needs and adjust staffing and resources appropriately.

Ensure completion of deliverables and adherence to timelines, track milestones and timelines across projects, and institute necessary workflow, personnel and financial resource allocations.

Analyze and resolve issues that have the potential to jeopardize program performance against key metrics.

Responsible for financial and operational performance of projects. Analyze financial trends and operational challenges and prepare reports for leadership.

Proactively identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external clients to reassess, renegotiate and amend scope of work responsibilities, proposals, contracts and budgets.

Engage in communication and change management in relation to progress of projects.

This position does require the willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree with at least four years of experience. Relevant experience may considered in lieu of a degree.

Project management (PMI) certification is typically possessed.

Demonstrated success in ensuring effective and timely program implementation that meet school goals.

Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff, as well as colleagues, to drive successful outcomes.

Ability to develop long-range goals and objectives while simultaneously managing a great deal of detail across multiple projects and tasks.

Demonstrated fiscal management and budget planning skills.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ability to build rapport and engagement with diverse audiences.

Participate in outreach and diversity efforts.

Awareness of, respect for and adherence to University of Virginia policies and procedures (e.g., accreditation requirements, University contractual requirements, etc.).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to utilize data and market trends to modify, expand and/or retire courses/programs based on student demand.

Helps develop courses/programs that have a clear value proposition for students, which set the programs apart from competitive offerings.

Working knowledge of appropriate software supports: Canvas, Tableau, Zoom, MS Teams, Slack.
This is a full-time, 40-hours-per-week, benefited position operating during regular business hours, but with occasional evenings and weekends required.
Physical Demands:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. During in-person programs, the job requires facilitating clients, participants, faculty and supports (e.g., catering). The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
Anticipated Hiring Range:
Approximately $90K - $105K, commensurate with candidate's experience and qualifications with
UVA benefits.
