We have an exciting opportunity for up to three individuals to join UVA's Facilities Management Capital Construction and Renovations (CC&R) department as a Project Coordinator.

We have two openings in our UVA Health Division of CC&R focused on healthcare, research, and infrastructure projects. We have one opening in our Renewal and Renovation Division of CC&R, focused on renovation and maintenance renewal projects.

CC&R supports Facilities Management's goal by providing managerial support for all design and engineering services and by managing all construction services and the procurement for all construction contracts and design/engineering professional services contracts for the University community. The incumbent closely coordinates with the Office of the University Building Official and the Office of the Architect for the University.

Project Coordinators are responsible for supporting the coordination of design, procurement, and construction activities associated with various complex construction work. They manage third-party contractors, as well as University community vendor relationships. Construction projects include new construction and the maintenance, rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, and additions to existing facilities and landscapes. Job duties are performed under general direction from a Senior Project Manager or other designated supervisor.

We are looking for candidates with diverse perspectives and project management experience who are eager to learn and wish to join a team with growth opportunities. The successful candidates will have a passion for constructing buildings for patients, faculty, staff, and students, as well as the ability to manage projects from start to finish. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to speak with a variety of constituent levels are musts.

Facilities Management supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic, and patient care programs. With over 1,100 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for managing the University's Capital Construction and Renovations Program and the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of the University's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds, as well as other University-owned and leased properties.

Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Two years of experience with project or process management. Without a bachelor's degree, must have six years of relevant experience.

Skills and Abilities:
  1. Reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  2. Ability to use computers and associated applications for time tracking and documentation of work.
  3. Ability to work well in a diverse and team-oriented environment.
  4. Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people of diverse backgrounds.
  5. Detail-oriented with the ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, or specifications.

Minimum starting salary of $65,000; actual starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position will be open until filled, but preference will be given to applications received by July 29, 2022.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
