Poison Center Control Specialist

Provide poison call center services to both the general public and healthcare facilities. Works closely with other team members, including physicians, nurses, epidemiologist and educators, within the very specialized field of toxicology.
  • Provides case management and decision making to the public and healthcare professions.
  • Participates in quality efforts.
  • Manages multiple information systems.
  • Lifelong learning encompasses empowered leaders.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and actively participate in shared governance.
  • Relationship-based care reflects the influence of the nurse's relationship with self, colleagues and patient/family on patient experience.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $31.35 - $50.16 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Experience: 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. National certification in Poison Information within 3 years of hire date. American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
