UVA Physicians Group is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join UVA Primary Care Riverside in their same-day appointment clinic, located at 2335 Seminole Lane, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Position Highlights
  • Join a team of two physicians and 8 APPs.
  • The practice offers both primary care services and preventive healthcare to patients of all ages, as well as same-day appointments for minor illnesses and injuries, and is open to the community.
  • 100% outpatient.
  • Providers seeing same-day appointments see patients Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and can expect to work a rotation on Saturdays.
  • The same-day appointment providers currently work 10- or 12-hour days on rotation and do not take any after-hours call.

Candidate Specifications
  • Graduate of physician assistant program.
  • Unrestricted license to practice within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Current DEA certificate without restriction.

This is an opportunity to join the UVA Physicians Group (UPG), which is the physician group practice of the University of Virginia. UPG represents doctors and advanced practice providers who provide care within the UVA Health System in ambulatory primary care and specialty practices. It was founded in 1979 as a nonprofit supporting organization of UVA to serve the financial and administrative needs of clinical staff. UPG performs billing and collections functions for physician professional services, manages primary care and specialty practices, oversees provider payroll and benefits, negotiates commercial payer contracts, participates in clinical outreach business development, and offers legal and financial services.

UPG is a distinct organization from the University of Virginia, the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, and the UVA Medical Center, but works collaboratively with these partners that make up the UVA Health System to provide high-quality patient care.

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
  • Experience: Department- and unit-specific.
  • Licensure: License or license eligibility as an advanced practice provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), as required specific to position.

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping and reaching (overhead, extensive and repetitive). Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
