Phlebotomist PRN (Staff Wage)

The Center for Public Health Genomics is seeking multiple candidates to work as a PRN phlebotomist. This position requires travel throughout the state of Virginia which will be reimbursed. This position will support a multi-site clinical research study and the hours will be variable depending on when and where a patient is admitted to the study.

The phlebotomist must be comfortable with children and have expertise in venipuncture of children between the ages of 2 and 16 with the blood draws occurring in the patient's homes or other suitable locations throughout the state.

Job related duties include communicating with the study team, electronic data entry via iPad, processing blood samples, preparing samples for shipping and documenting sample collections per study guidelines.

The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. This position will require a DMV, Drug Screen, Professional Licensure Check, Health Screen (Please see attached policy on Health Screen (PLAKA-DMV)


Education: high school graduate or equivalent.

Experience: 1 year relevant experience preferred.

Licensure: Certification with a nationally recognized phlebotomy organization preferred.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking, bending/stooping and climbing (ladder, steps); Repetitive motion: extension and flexion at wrist. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull < 20lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
