Pharmacy Technician, Medication Automation & Systems

Provides pharmacy services and medication management in specialty areas, including pharmacy automation and the demonstration of advanced technical skills and ownership for the work area. This job requires the application and interpretation of policies and procedures and the use of independent judgment in a patient care setting to support the pharmacy enterprise.
  • Under general supervision, troubleshoots pharmacy automation problems, along with associated systems, and works with organizational teams to seek resolution as needed.
  • Under general supervision, trains staff on departmental systems, including pharmacy automation operations.
  • Under general supervision, supports medication software set-up and optimization.
  • Sets up and distributes medication to various areas in the Medical Center, maintaining regulatory requirements for medication security.
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirement.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $21.95 - $34.02 Hourly

  • Education: High school diploma required. Post-high school technical training required.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience required.
  • Licensure: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician registration required within 6 months of hire.

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
