An Occupational Therapist 2 or Physical Therapist 2 consistently provides effective direct care to a variety of complex patients. In doing so, the therapist acts as a role model and supervisor for junior staff and helps identify patients who have unmet occupational or physical therapy needs. A therapist is focused on expanding clinical knowledge and skills beyond the entry level, sharing this knowledge through in-services, and participates as an active member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The therapist acts as a role model and may supervise other staff. This level of therapist seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice and begins to assume a leadership role, receiving mentoring in this process. Therapists at this level may be asked to contribute to performance appraisals.
  • Performs occupational therapy or physical therapy evaluations according to professional standards and departmental guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of intervention options and executes a program of skilled occupational therapy or physical therapy intervention.
  • Actively participates in professional growth of self and others.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement and program development.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or physical therapy.
  • Experience: 6 months of relevant experience.
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice in occupational therapy or physical therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. New grads must be licensed within 6 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires frequently bending/stooping/traveling (distance: ½ mile). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
