The OR Robotic Program Nurse Manager manages the operations of the Robotic Surgery program in the provision of operating and nursing care to patients and their families. This is a transformation leader that directs the activities of patient care and support staff.
  • Manages and supports the day to day operations of robotic surgery team. Supervises all nurses and support staff including but not limited to Registered Nurses, Scrub nurses, Patient Care Assistants and Technicians, Health Unit Coordinators, and related clerical staff.
  • Oversees the preparation of team member schedules, utilizing wage and flex staff as appropriate. Adjusts according to patient flow.
  • All relevant issues, stakeholders and broad systematic implications are considered when making decisions
  • Works with Surgery scheduling team to ensure effective use of the robotic systems
  • Ensures that any expenditures are within the budget. Knowledge of related benchmarks. Meets at least quarterly with the Financial analyst team / Robotic Users Group representative (RUGS) to review case costs / provides surgeons with case cost information
  • Financial analyses are applied to evaluate opportunities, make strategic choices and determine impact of key decisions.
  • Organizational resources are allocated in an efficient and cost-effective manner, in alignment with goals and objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements. Ensures that the highest quality nursing care is provided to patients and their families.
  • Develops and manages partnerships with clinicians, physicians and administrative counterparts to achieve common goals. Promotes integration of multidisciplinary work groups.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $81,078.40 - $129,729.60 Annual


Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program, Master's degree in related field within 5 years of hire.

Experience: At least 3 years of progressively more responsible experience as a registered nurse in a patient care environment required


  • License to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • Must have applicable specialty certification at hire or within 3 years .



Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.


COVID Vaccination Requirement

Due to the scope of President Biden's Executive Order 14042 issued in early September, all University employees, including remote employees, must receive their final vaccination dose by January 4, 2022, unless they have a University-approved religious or medical exemption. The University has updated policy SEC-045 to reflect these new requirements.

If hired by the Academic Division, excluding School of Medicine, School of Nursing, UVA Physicians Group, and the Health Systems Library, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination or be willing to be vaccinated by January 4, 2022. Academic employees may apply for a University-approved medical or religious exemption.
