The Medical ICU is a 28-bed, adult ICU that provides comprehensive, interdisciplinary, patient-centered care to critically ill patients. Our patient population is extremely complex and presents with multiple medical problems.
The MICU team is extremely experienced in the care of special pathogens patients and has led the Medical Center in that area of care delivery. Nurse-to-patient ratios are based on acuity and experience of the RN team. The unit employs more than 125 nurses with nearly 800 years of combined experience.
This position is for an entry-level professional nurse, focused primarily on developing knowledge and skills. Provides safe patient care at a basic level and shows growth in ability to care for increasingly complex patients. Manages care and implements treatment plans at a basic skill level in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians and other members of the healthcare team. Requires consultation with more experienced clinicians and benefits from feedback.

Position Compensation Range: $27.00 - $44.36 Hourly
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
Experience: No experience required.
Licensure: Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
