Responsible for providing a variety of patient care duties and unit support functions under the supervision of a Medical Center professional on an inpatient psychiatric unit. Assists with the orientation and development of new Patient Care Assistants on an inpatient psychiatric unit.
  • Assists professional healthcare staff with patient procedures.
  • Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development of self and contributes to and assists with the professional development of others.
  • Performs unit support activities as needed and directed by manager or designee.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $15.37 - $23.82 Hourly

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Licensure: Completion of first semester of nursing school or current active CNA certification through the Virginia Board of Nursing. AAPT certification as follows: auccessful completion of Basic exam by end of probationary period (6 months). Failure to do so may result in performance management program and may result in termination of position. Waived if at time of hire there is documented proof of a minimum of 2 years of experience caring for patients in an inpatient psychiatric setting, a community service board, or equivalent in a direct care position. BLS certification required.

Job requires frequently bending/stooping/traveling. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
