Medical Scribe (Staff Wage)

Medical Scribes provide research and clinical assistance to faculty by performing on-site medical transcription. They work directly with patients to obtain patient data and specimens as required by protocols. They enter data into project and medical record databases and assist with documentation. They may accompany physicians on patient accounters to record accurate medical information, including notes of communication, past medical records, laboratory results, etc.
  • Ensures patient charts are accurate and thoroughly documented according to University and Medical Center policies.
  • Collects and enters data into medical records and study databases.
  • Assists faculty and researchers with reports, researching records and disposition of information.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Will be working in the COVID testing clinic.
  • Will be trained and fitted to PPE.
  • Will assist in specimen collection and patient education.
  • If COVID clinic demand decreases, would look to float into other clinical areas of medical services to serve in scribe/provider and nurse support role.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a healthcare or science-related field.
  • Experience: At least six months of experience with medical transcription.
  • Licensure: None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
