Media Support Engineer

The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, one of the world's leading business schools, seeks a full-time Media Support Engineer to join its audiovisual team.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
  • Record, plan, and fulfill audiovisual requests, including supplemental classroom equipment set-ups, event microphone/speaker set-ups, classroom recordings, and web conference set-up and monitoring.
  • Perform room tours to ensure all AV equipment/software is working properly, and repair/adjust equipment/software as necessary.
  • Respond to help requests to troubleshoot potential AV issues. Meet with clients, identify issues, and provide solution.
  • Provide audiovisual training for faculty, staff, and students related to equipment in rooms or equipment available for sign-out.
  • Auditorium AV support – Set up, monitor, and break down AV equipment in auditorium, including microphones, recording equipment, and system in control room.
  • Install new audiovisual equipment for Darden enterprise. Review installation instructions, install product, review feature list, and catalog in inventory database.
  • Troubleshoot audiovisual equipment/software issues; repair or replace.
  • Participate in staff meetings with Digital Infrastructure team and perform audiovisual research. Explore and identify new innovative tools or processes that could benefit the Darden enterprise.
  • Be available to perform some evening and weekend hours scheduled in advance.

Professional experience and education:
  • Associate's degree in related discipline with at least one year of experience. Combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 4 years of audiovisual experience preferred.
  • Programming skills recommended, especially coding for Crestron devices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical clients and staff.
  • Audiovisual, computer, and mobile device technical expertise. Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate on a team.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and teamwork skills.

This position is located in person in Charlottesville, VA and requires occasional travel to Rosslyn, VA to support programming at the Sands Family Grounds location.
