The Manager of Research and Clinical Trials Analytics provides leadership and management of research data solutions and programs for the School of Medicine and iThriv team. Directs the research team in the areas of prioritization, scheduling, technical direction, and development practices. Coordinates with Internal IT, business partners, and end users to determine requirements design and delivery of solutions, e.g., data requests, research database solutions, and support of electronic data capture. Participates in budgeting appropriation process and quality programs for development organization. Meets project milestones and supports/drives project management methodology.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the design, installation, programming, modification, and operation of information technologies.
  • Foster collaboration and liaisons with other leaders, both within UVA Health and the iThriv community, as well as the Cancer Center and Clinical Trials Office.
  • Plan purchases and deployment of information systems.
  • Mentor and coach software development engineers and IT data analysts at different levels of experience.
  • Be able to manage a distributed team and lead the development of both the front and back-end software engineers.

Other Duties
  • Manage operational workflow of data requests.
  • Find opportunities to promote self-service solutions.
  • Participate in Analytics and Reporting Team management activities.
  • Develop talent and coach peers and others to develop their capabilities.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Organizational Duties
  • Communicate appropriately using good interpersonal skills.
  • Serve, manage, and support internal and external customers.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Participate as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: High school diploma. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Three to five years.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of management experience, preferably in healthcare and/or in research.
  • Expertise in all phases of systems development and BI solutions.
  • Experience managing data/analytics/software engineering projects.
  • Oversight experience with some or all these technologies: Epic Applications, Epic Clarity, Tableau, Microsoft BI Stack (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, Tabular), Python, Angular.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Epic Data Model certification.
  • Experience doing Dev/Ops and or TPM.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.

This is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
