Sign-on bonus of $5,000 for a 1-year commitment and $10,000 for a 2-year commitment. Relocation assistance available per UVA relocation policy.

Responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic technical procedures in the MRI department under the direction of a physician.
  • Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas.
  • Ensures proper safety standards are met.
  • Operates required equipment necessary to produce scans using established guidelines and MRI protocols.
  • Properly identifies and explains procedure to patient.
  • Starts IV access according to standard procedure and injects media under the direction of a physician.
  • Prepares and positions patient for procedure by using established MRI protocols to achieve the highest-quality image.
  • Instructs students and residents and performs preceptor duties when necessary.
  • Assists in maintaining supply inventory.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $30.13 - $48.21 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Graduate of a JRC-accredited program in radiography required. Associate's degree preferred. Eligibility for ARRT (MR) certification required.
  • Experience: No experience required.
  • Licensure: Registered Radiologic Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT R.T.) required. ARRT (MR) certification required within one year of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.   

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping and reaching (overhead, extensive and repetitive). Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to, cold, dust, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

COVID Vaccination Requirement

Due to the scope of President Biden's Executive Order 14042 issued in early September, all University employees, including remote employees, must receive their final vaccination dose by January 4, 2022, unless they have a University-approved religious or medical exemption. The University has updated policy SEC-045 to reflect these new requirements.

 

If hired by the Academic Division, excluding School of Medicine, School of Nursing, UVA Physicians Group, and the Health Systems Library, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination or be willing to be vaccinated by January 4, 2022. Academic employees may apply for a University-approved medical or religious exemption.
