Lead Sterile Processing Tech

Performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment.
  • Prepares and assembles surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings for issue storage or further processing (such as sterilization).
  • Monitors, reads, documents, and interprets all parameters for all types of sterilizers to ensure proper function (ETO Steam Steris and STERRAD).
  • Cleans and decontaminates reusable equipment instruments and supplies manually and mechanically (hand washing, washer/sterilizer, ultrasonic cleaner, scope washer, cart washer).
  • Participates in the coordination of all aspects of department's services.
  • Serves as the resource for information for employees and customers.
  • Models team behaviors to frontline employees.
  • Manages departmental barcode system (SPM ORMIS).
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $18.37 - $28.47 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensure: Certification as a Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) through IAHCSMM or certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through CBSPD required within 12 months of hire date.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull >100 lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, cold, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
