Lead Data Engineer
Job ID: R0041025 | Systems Engineering, Design and Development | Full Time | Charlottesville, VA
Under general direction utilizes a combination of programming and analytical skills to design and maintain complex data systems within the Health System to support organizational decision-making and knowledge discovery.
  • Prepares detailed specifications from which data architectures can be derived.
  • Designs codes tests debugs and documents those data products and systems produced.
  • Competent to work on most phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities but requires instruction and guidance in other phases.
  • Under general supervision formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

This position is hybrid and/or remote-eligible.

Position Compensation Range: $47.52 - $76.03 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree.

Experience:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience developing complex data ETL workflows with tools like SSIS or Informatica.
  • Experience with data modeling tools and data modeling approaches for analytical layer.
  • Administration experience managing SQL Server 2017 and 2019 databases at multi-terabytes scale.
  • Experience with processing various file formats in an automated manner.
  • SQL Server data warehousing experience at scale.
  • Some familiarity with developing with Python.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience with healthcare technologies
  • Code check-in and DevOps experience in a data engineering environment
  • Data quality management while developing data products
  • Azure DevOps and Agile data delivery experience
  • Ability to explain technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience ingesting and processing events-based data


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
