Laboratory Specialist or Intermediate

The Robert M. Berne Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) is currently seeking a Laboratory and Research Specialist or Intermediate to become the main point of contact for an assigned labs immunohistochemical needs. The primary purpose of this position it to assist with performing complex experiments per direction of CVRC management and assigned laboratory. This includes, but is not limited to, embedding, sectioning, histochemical and immunostaining, morphometric analyses, image generation including light microscopy, confocal fluorescent microscopy, epifluorescent microscopy, and polarized light microscopy.

The successful candidate will also work with students, post-docs, and other members of the lab to assist in conducting all aspects of experiments. The position requires coordinating research projects and logistics with other lab members; compliance with University, Federal, and State policies and procedures; consulting with the Principle Investigator regularly; and oversight of laboratory purchasing, equipment, and supplies required for operation of the laboratory.
 

Minimum Requirements for Lab Specialist:

Education: Bachelor's degree.

Experience: Three years of experience which may include student experience. Six years of experience accepted in lieu of degree. Experience gained as a student may be considered. The individual should be self-guided and creative in seeking possible solutions to experimental/design challenges at hand and have strong communication skills.

Minimum Requirements for Lab Specialist Intermediate:

Education: Bachelor's degree.

Experience: Six years of experience in a lab technician role. Master's degree may substitute for required experience. Nine years of experience accepted in lieu of degree. Experience gained as a student may be considered. The individual should be self-guided and creative in seeking possible solutions to experimental/design challenges at hand and have strong communication skills.

This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance
