The Klibanov Laboratory at the University of Virginia seeks a Laboratory Specialist or Intermediate that will work in the areas of targeted imaging and image-guided drug delivery research.
Qualified candidates should have a background in laboratory research. Specifically, the position requires lab bench-related research, including but not limited to assisting with experiments including cell culture, general histochemical and immunofluorescence staining, and microscopy. General lab management will also be performed (glassware, buffer solution preparations, proper handling of chemical and biological waste materials). Prior animal handling experience is required. Work with radiolabeled compounds will be necessary. Chemical analysis techniques mastery (spectrophotometric tests, GC, HPLC) will be an advantage.

This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.


Laboratory Specialist:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related science.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in Cell Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry or a related field, which may include experience gained while a student. 6 years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.

Laboratory Specialist Intermediate:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related science.
  • Experience: 6 years of experience in a lab technician role in Cell Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry or a related field. Master's degree may substitute for required experience. 9 years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
