The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia seeks to fill a Laboratory Specialist position in the laboratory of Dr. Hui Li. The broad areas of interest in Dr. Li's lab include: cancer, gene regulation, abnormal splicing, developmental biology, and evolutional biology.
The Laboratory Specialist is expected to perform experiments related to Li lab research topics, including cell culture, and animal husbandry. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for ordering supplies, helping with lab organization and maintenance of regular lab flow.
This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
Education: Bachelor's degree in biology or chemistry.
Experience: Three years of experience. Six years of experience accepted in lieu of degree. Candidates with experience in bioinformatics and/or computer science are preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
