The Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics at the University of Virginia seeks a Laboratory and Research Technician in the Zimmer Lab. Lab Technicians perform routine lab maintenance tasks including cleaning glassware, preparing buffers, reagents and growth media, placing orders and monitoring lab supplies. The individual will also assist in maintaining insect and mammalian cell cultures.
Lab and Research Technician employees focus on performing routine research tasks and developing skills. They assume routine to moderately complex technical support for research projects. Work is routine and can be performed with some degree of independence when following established protocols and procedures. Lab and Research Technician employees perform tasks as assigned by supervisor.

This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
