The University of Virginia's Department of Engineering Systems and Environment seeks applicants for a Lab Specialist. The Lab Specialist will support in-laboratory and field-based education and research, as well as facility management for the Department of Engineering Systems and Environment.
The Lab Specialist will include basic preservation strategies for laboratory facilities such as repair, maintenance and upgrades of laboratory equipment, fabrication of special-use laboratory equipment and test fixtures, preparing experimental setups in collaboration with researchers, participation in field research activities, maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies for teaching and research. In addition to these laboratory focused activities, additional duties may include moving equipment, supplies, and furniture between laboratories, oversee laboratory maintenance, coordinate with UVA Facilities Management for departmental, order supplies and equipment, assist with field research activities, and manage hazardous waste and radioactive materials used in laboratories.
Qualifications:
This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability and performance. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.
