The
Executive Technology Office at the University of Virginia invites applications for a new Information Technology Specialist opening on our team. The Executive Technology team provides strategic technology service, support, and solutions for the Office of the President and approximately 42 other executive units at UVA. Currently servicing and installing around 80% Windows and 20% Macintosh computers, we are looking for an IT professional to join our team.
In delivering high-level technical support, the Information Technology Specialist will be expected to bring best-in-class customer service to every user we support. The incumbent will proactively engage and promptly respond to requests for assistance with computing hardware, software, and network interfaces. Similarly, the Information Technology Specialist will provide training and resources for clients based on articulated or anticipated computing needs to ensure their office technologies run as seamlessly as possible. This position is an in-person position with the expected working hours of 8-5, Monday through Friday. This position will also share emergency on-call duties with the other Executive Technology staff on a rotating monthly basis.
The IT Specialist will be primarily utilizing Windows Server, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft Deployment Tool, and other Microsoft products while also employing Macintosh technologies. The successful candidate will have expert knowledge in computing technologies and a broad range of multi-user computer system abilities, including applications, system analysis methodology, computer security procedures and installation of client computing platforms and be prepared to provide user training to improve computer literacy and proficiency. The ideal candidate will be skilled in Windows, have knowledge of Macintosh computers, have a passion for customer service, and have significant experience delivering computing solutions to high-level users.
Duties Include:

Supporting senior leaders, executives, and administrative units within the President's Office in providing technical assistance at the highest level.

Delivering excellent customer service while building relationships with clients.

Analyzing and solving problems on complex computer applications and systems.

Effectively communicating to customers in a timely and professional manner.

Collaborating with central ITS to install and maintaining network resources for ExecTech departments.

Keeping accurate written documentation of all installation, operation, reconfiguration, and upgrade procedures necessary to maintain operational status of individual workstations and networks.

Supporting policies and practice compliance, reporting all issues to ExecTech Director. Maintaining superior level of data accessibility and maintaining security to data from varying networks, including worldwide travelers.

Analyzing current hardware and software systems and providing recommendations, as well as maintaining an accurate inventory.

Position requires incumbent to work in multiple office locations, which may present various working conditions.

Successfully managing workload both within the team and as an individual.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Requirements Include:

A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field and an additional five years of experience providing technical support.

Demonstrated ability to articulate technical solutions through verbal and written communication.

Proven record of providing strong customer service skills.

Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Willingness to learn about new technologies and take on new challenges.

Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to handle competing priorities and multitask.

Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to software, hardware, and network issues.

Knowledge and experience with Windows OS.

A high degree of confidentiality.
Successful candidate needs to have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license in favorable standing.
This position is located in Charlottesville, VA, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. It does requires supporting various customer locations in the Charlottesville area.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $60,000 - $65,000, commensurate with education and experience.
