The School of Medicine's Medical Education Technology department is seeking an IT Help Desk Analyst 2 or IT Help Desk Analyst 3 to provide consultative and technical support services to faculty, staff, and students. The department supports Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) in the use of instructional technology, learning management, and medical education information systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary focus of the work includes, but is not limited to the following:
  • General computing support of technology infrastructure
    • University-provided networks, applications, collaboration tools, etc.
    • UVA Health-provided networks and applications
  • Classroom/meeting room support
    • Audiovisual systems, projectors, TVs, amplified audio, etc.
    • Instructional technology – audience response systems, Qualtrics, etc.
    • Specialized learning centers and laboratories – Anatomy Lab, Clinical Skills Center, Medical Simulation Center, etc.
  • Systems administration/application support for School of Medicine-specific information systems.
    • Commercial off-the-shelf applications for medical education
    • Bespoke applications written by application development team

This position is primarily office-based/on-site in Charlottesville, VA. Rotating weekend on-call schedule, approximately every 6-8 weeks, where the employee will be eligible for overtime while working remotely during this period.

This position will remain open until filled. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

IT Help Desk Analyst 2:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, computer engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Anticipated hiring range: $22 - $27/hour, commensurate with education and experience

IT Help Desk Analyst 3:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, computer engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience: At least three years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Anticipated hiring range: $27 - $33/hour, commensurate with education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Technical competency in common computing platforms and devices – Windows, Mac, IOS, Droid
  • Effective problem-solving/troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to peel back layers of user support issues to get to root cause
  • Effective time management; able to prioritize, plan, and complete multiple tasks
  • Effective communication skills and customer service-minded
  • Willing to extend some extra grace for challenging users/support situation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs. Occasional moving and installation of equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Often positions self under desks to connect and disconnect equipment.
