IT Business Systems Analyst or Senior Analyst

UVA Information Technology Services (ITS) seeks applicants for multiple openings on the Strategic Projects and Initiatives Team as IT Business Analysts or Senior Business Analysts to support strategic IT projects in the CIO Project Portfolio. These are 2-year, limited-term University staff positions with full benefits.

What You Will Do:
  • Elicit and create business process maps/visualizations using business process modeling notation standards to define current, future and gap process states.
  • Elicit and document functional and technical requirements in the form of user stories and use cases, and develop acceptance criteria in both an agile and iterative waterfall project methodology.
  • Build collaborative partnership across UVA to support the project goals and meet the needs of our stakeholders.
  • Be the voice of the user and assist the technical team in the creation and delivery of solutions.
  • Develop, execute and document test plans to validate appropriate system configuration.
  • Develop and deliver professional presentations to leadership, faculty, staff and students.

Required Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of work experience in an IT department or field.
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent qualitative analysis skills (aptitude for listening with intention; ability to iterate in the moment, establish rapport quickly, analyze information and present debrief materials; etc.).
  • Excellent quantitative analysis skills (aptitude to analyze data, derive conclusions to predict future outcomes, technical writing, outcome measurement, etc.).
  • Strong collaboration skills (ability to partner with technical, end user and cross-functional experts to build consensus and understanding of problems).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as an IT business analyst.
  • Experience working with faculty and executive leadership.
  • Experience implementing enterprise IT solutions.
