Facilities Associate

The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia seeks a Project Associate who will join the dean's office team as Facilities Associate and provide exceptional service in support of day-to-day facility management, space assignment, renovation, space planning and risk management.

The Facilities Associate will provide logistical and organizational support for school-related facilities, space planning and risk management. The Facilities Associate serves as the primary liaison with UVA Facilities Management and other University service providers and external vendors for building maintenance needs, including furnishings consultation, ordering and installation. The Facilities Associate will monitor space and oversee a plan to ensure the school provides well-organized and safe spaces in which to learn and work. This is a hands-on role with the Facilities Associate providing direct support and assistance. The Facilities Associate reports to the Senior Associate Dean and Chief Operating Officer.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma with at least six years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree will substitute for years of experience.
  • Strong customer service orientation and creative problem solver.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, take initiative and motivate others.
  • Ability to develop, monitor and manage budgets.
  • Well-developed organizational skills; ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent presentation and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty and alumni.
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
