Enterprise Engineer

UVA Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking an entry-level Engineer in the Enterprise Data Warehousing group. This position will work with the Director, Data Operations and a team of seasoned Engineers supporting the operation and expansion of services provided by the EDW. Current subject matter areas supported in the EDW include Finance, Human Resources and Student data, all sourced from Enterprise systems. Data from the EDW is used by 1,000s of UVA staff via the University Business Intelligence (UBI) reporting platform, as well as a number of other BI platforms and localized data marts.

Key responsibilities of this position will include:
  • Analysis of business requirements and data sources
  • Developing data maps for new data structures
  • Testing the work performed by other engineers
  • Engineering ETL jobs to populate/enhance data structures

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma
  • A passion for problem-solving
  • Demonstrated experience performing business process or data analysis
  • Eagerness to learn new, sometimes complex skills
  • Curiosity and persistence

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's/master's degree in a related field (data science, statistics, etc.)
  • Some hands-on experience with SQL (either Transact or PL/SQL)
  • Familiarity with the concepts of data pipelines, ETL and star schemas
  • Informatica Power Center or other relevant ETL toolset
  • Prior software development and/or testing

Anticipated hiring range: $65,000 - $80,000, based on experience
