Emergency Department Support - SOM

Performs a variety of routine non-direct patient care clinical office support and/or distribution functions within the assigned unit.

Will work 1 day 8 hours and 1 day 12 hours for a total of 20 hours/week. Hours are 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Provides support to the unit(s), which may include the following:
  • Maintains patient safety.
  • Pick-up/transport/return of equipment to and from other units.
  • Escorts patients and visitors as needed to and from units.
  • Turnover of patient rooms/bays between patients.
  • Equipment maintenance and safety checks are completed according to policy and procedure.
  • Stocks supplies.
  • Checks supplies for expiration dates in department secondary storage locations.
  • Assists patient's family at discharge with carrying items to the lobby/car.
  • May provide donning/doffing coach support when necessary. Covers the desk role by managing phone calls and assisting with patient flow.
  • Observes patient and notifies nurse when specific situations occur.
  • Performs administrative support functions when necessary. Maintains necessary skills and competencies.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $13.00 - $19.19 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: No experience required.
  • Licensure: None required.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires sitting, standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking, bending/stooping and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Repetitive motion: computer use. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs.
