The Pre-School Development grant Birth-5 (PDG B-5) LinkB5 data system within
Center for the Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) in the
School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a full-time Early Childhood Data System Analyst position to join our LinkB5 team. The LinkB5 data system serves early childcare and education providers across the state of Virginia in collecting information to improve access and quality for our youngest learners. The LinkB5 Analyst will work with team members and stakeholders to develop the LinkB5 technology, as well as serve as a member of the Outreach team to understand user perspective. This is a full-time, salaried,
remote-only position.
The LinkB5 Analyst will conduct business process analyses, needs assessments and preliminary cost/benefit analyses in an effort to align the LinkB5 solution with state and user priorities. They will prepare functional, system and program specifications and requirements. The LinkB5 Analyst will work under the supervision of the LinkB5 Director, as well as with external software vendors to develop, manage and implement requirements. The Analyst will also write user stories in collaboration with the LinkB5 web developer, as well as serve as a part of the application testing team. In addition, the ideal candidate will develop extensive knowledge of the LinkB5 application by supporting users through email, chat and phone support at least 8 hours/week.
Role and Responsibilities
The Business Systems Analyst will:

Participate in requirements planning and feasibility determination.

Write user stories and acceptance criteria.

Formulate and define sprint scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of the LinkB5 application and industry standards.

Analyze business and user needs, document requirements, and revise existing system logic difficulties as necessary.

Suggest potential solutions within cost/performance objectives.

Perform analyses and prepare reports to ensure that programs meet or exceed schedule commitments.

As a LinkB5 team member, function in project capacities including, but not limited to, requirements, functional design, functional configuration, testing and documentation.

Gain user perspective by providing user support through phone, email and chat.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Required Skills

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, computer engineering or related discipline.

Experience: Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Skills

Very high attention to detail and timelines.

Willingness to provide website-based customer support.

Strong desire to learn new skills and abilities and to continuously improve practices.

Experience with agile methodology.
Compensation Information
Full-time position with a range of $58,000 to $63,000, commensurate with education and experience, including
UVA benefits.
The position will remain open until filled. This is an exempt-level, benefited position. This position will not sponsor applicants for work visas. This restricted position is a 12-month appointment, and continuation is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
