UVA Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking applications for a Director of UVA Academic Networks to support the Enterprise Infrastructure team. This position is responsible for a team of 12 network engineers and 5 network distribution technicians with a manager. This team oversees all wired and wireless networking, including intranet access on the academic side of the University, as well as other University locations. The Director of UVA Academic Networks leads the strategy for the network evolution in terms of services and technology. They interface with the private and public cloud and storage teams in the Enterprise Infrastructure organization. The Director also interfaces with customers and ITS customer support functions to handle escalations, problems and cases in which more complicated solutions and consults arise.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience with network architecture or equivalent combination of education, experience and certifications.
  • Experience in designing/operating large-scale networks.
  • At least 3 years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in network operations best practices: reliability, change control, root cause analysis, CMDB and documentation (ITILv4 practices).
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • CCNA or equivalent certification.

Anticipated hiring range : $150,000 - $170,000
