The Director, Provider Relations & Outreach Services leads, develops and manages the provider referral and liaison strategy across UVA Health. This position directs the planning, outreach strategy and day-to-day management and implementation of physician referral growth and retention programs in alignment with institutional goals and priorities.

The Director leads a team of physician liaisons that spans across markets, service lines and clients, building awareness, reputation and relationships among referring providers and driving utilization of the care options that UVA Health provides. This role also develops and implements tools and processes, including the PRM platform, to quantify referral program analytics and ROI. The Director leverages and analyzes data to examine opportunities to optimize strategy and to create new relationships that drive referrals and downstream system revenue and margin. The performance of the role is measured by acquisition and retention of provider relationships and growth in patient referrals.
  • Integrate organizational, physician, competitive and market data to build and implement a successful strategy for physician outreach and engagement, referral growth and associated system revenue/margin.
  • Work with Marketing, Network Strategy, Data Analytics and clinical leaders at both the system level and local practices/facilities to align referral source and physician relationship initiatives with UVA Health's strategic focus and business growth objectives.
  • Leverage data and relationship management tools, including PRM, to identify and track ongoing physician outreach activity and set referral relationship strategies and priorities.
  • Establish referral program goals and measure impact and results using PRM data.
  • Manage a team of physician liaisons across UVA Health geographies and direct team objectives and activity (development and assessment of physician target lists, outreach activity). Evaluate territory/service line assignments in alignment with strategic planning.
  • Leverage analytics and targeting to ensure program effectiveness and consistently optimize strategy based on "leakage and keepage" data insights.
  • Monitor market activity and dynamics in the provider community, apply learnings to outreach strategy, and report on market/competitive intelligence.
  • Develop and foster collaborative relationships across UVA Health and referring providers to facilitate increased physician satisfaction and referrals.
  • Partner with internal clinical and operational teams to develop infrastructure and protocols for responding to physicians' needs.
  • Communicate and elevate trends in service, communications and operational barriers expressed by referring physicians that affect ability to develop and nurture loyal referring relationships.
  • Manage within approved budget.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $104,894.40 - $167,835.20 Annually

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: 10 years of progressively more responsible experience required; minimum 5 years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Licensure: Valid driver's license.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings.
