The UVA Brain Institute is seeking applicants for a role as a non-licensed Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) Trainee, CRC, CRC Intermediate, CRC Senior or CRC Manager. This position will plan, organize, lead and perform comprehensive, advanced-level clinical trial duties, commensurate with experience, for multiple or complex clinical trials, focusing on the overall productivity and success of the clinical trials. This individual will work with human clinical neuroscience research from the management of pilot studies spanning to work with large, multi-center research programs. Duties will include coordinating communication, developing IRB documents and coordinating events to promote outreach and collaboration.

Job Description:
  • This role will function under the principal investigator's medical license and cannot perform any tasks that by state or local law require a license to perform. They work independently and have the authority to adapt methods and procedures to meet the needs of the clinical trial.
  • They influence the long-term goals of clinical research trial and process. They often manage support teams. The impact of their decisions is wide in scope, affecting both internal and external partners.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate multi-center research and multiple clinical trials simultaneously. Manage multiple principal investigator relationships within and outside of the University, including establishing and managing multiple budgets and ensuring full compliance with local, state and federal policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the liaison with the sponsor for assigned studies.
  • Assist principal investigator in developing research protocols and submit the required documentation to the Institutional Review Board, the University and sponsors. Submit study protocols and amendments, consent forms and recruiting materials to the IRB and other required review boards for approval within established guidelines.
  • Conduct strategic planning and analysis of research portfolios in conjunction with the Center for Healthy Brain Development, the Virginia Alzheimer's Disease Center, the Brain Institute leadership and principal investigators.
  • Conduct research data analysis and literature searches. Author scientific papers and articles for publication and presentation.
  • Oversee financial accounting of multiple clinical research projects, including budget development, billing reconciliation and quality review. Oversee quarterly review of all principal investigator accounts.
  • Develop administrative and financial recommendations for department management and principal investigators for research portfolio review.
  • Compile data and documents during internal and external audits and is ultimately responsible for quality of submissions.
  • May manage a team of Clinical Research Coordinators and/or laboratory and support staff with responsibilities including hiring, scheduling, workload, compensation, rewards, development and performance management.
  • Perform all duties of the Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) Trainee, CRC, CRC Intermediate or CRC Senior – non-licensed.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: Up to 6 years of clinical research experience is preferred. Related Master's degree may substitute for two to three years of experience. Experience with UVA research/systems is preferred.
  • Licensure: Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) preferred. Master's degree in related field with related work experience may substitute at the time of hire with certification required within one year of certification eligibility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings and programs.

ANITICIPATED HIRING RANGE
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience with UVA benefits.
