Provides customer service and laboratory-related communication regarding specimen submission and reporting of results to healthcare providers that use the UVA Medical Laboratories.

Laboratory Client Services Rep:

  • Communicates patient results clearly accurately and effectively to laboratory clients.
  • Serves as a resource to clients regarding test requirements, specimen submission and other laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a dispatch service for lab couriers.
  • Serves as trainer and role model for new staff.
  • Performs area-specific support activities.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

 

Clinical Lab Scientist:

  • Performs patient and Quality Control (QC) testing, develops skills and maintains competency in assigned laboratory areas.
  • Maintains proper inventories and correctly uses supplies and reagents.
  • Monitors equipment performance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes repairs or initiates service requests
  • Ensures a smooth transition to the next shift.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of quality, safety and compliance programs.
  • Investigates, documents and resolves routine problems or complaints.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $14.48 - $22.44 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Laboratory Client Services Rep

  • Education: HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 2 years relevant experience. Only candidates with medical laboratory experience will be considered.
  • Licensure: None
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Clinical Lab Scientist
 

  • Education: Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a NAACLS approved MLT program; Bachelor's in Biology/Chemistry or related science
  • Experience: No experience required
  • Licensure: ASCP or equivalent certification within 24 months of hire
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Job requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping, reaching and repetitive motion. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to fumes chemicals, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.


COVID Vaccination Requirement
