$5,000 for Clinical Lab Scientist 2 hires
$2,500 for Clinical Lab Scientist 1 hires

Requirements:
  • Must work a 40-hour/week, full-time schedule.
  • Must work a specified shift (days, evenings or nights; weekend rotation if required by unit).
  • 24-month committment with prorated repayment for early termination.

Payment Terms:
  • Half in your first paycheck
  • Half after six months of employment

Relocation assistance available per UVA Medical Center policy.

Responsible for performing complex procedures for clinical diagnostic purposes.
  • Performs patient and quality control (QC) testing, develops skills and maintains competency in routine, "specials" and assigned laboratory areas.
  • Maintains proper inventories and correctly uses supplies and reagents.
  • Monitors equipment performance, diagnoses malfunctions and makes repairs or initiates service requests.
  • Ensures a smooth transition to the next shift.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of quality safety and compliance programs.
  • Investigates documents and resolves routine problems or complaints.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $24.24 - $38.78 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology (MLT); bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or related science; or bachelor's degree in medical technology (MT/CLS).
  • Experience: Accredited and approved MT/CLS program: 0 years; bachelor's in bio/chem: 3 years; MLT: 4 years.
  • License/Certification: ASCP or equivalent certification within 18 months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing, sitting for prolonged periods, frequently walking, bending/stooping, reaching and repetitive motion. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.


COVID Vaccination Requirement
