Brain Institute Program Coordinator

The UVA Brain Institute is recruiting a Program Coordinator who will be responsible for a variety of professional-level work across a composite of administrative service areas, including grants and research administration, budget, finance, procurement, human resources, academic administration, research compliance, student services, communications, space and facilities, and/or high-level operational support. The primary focus is on delivery of professional services, which may include project management, research compliance, administrative program creation and oversight, training, analysis, and research and contract administration. They will act on behalf of a program, function, or department and will report to the Associate Director of the Brain Institute. Responsibilities and authority are equivalent to other program coordinators across grounds. Program Coordinators assume a breadth of responsibilities across multiple functions.

Duties Include:
  • Performing a variety of professional and operational duties that facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Brain Institute. Interpreting departmental and divisional policies and procedures, making decisions on specific operating problems and issuing instructions in the name of the department or division head.
  • Advising institute leadership and staff members on administrative problems. Compiling reports and analyses, setting forth progress, benchmarking, impact, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
  • Assisting in writing and editing of professional correspondence and research documents.
  • Supporting business operations and strategic planning with analysis and recommendations based on data.
  • May be responsible for the administration of budgets and coordination of personnel matters. Controlling and maintaining financial and personnel records of departmental or divisional contracts and sponsored programs, and informing appropriate staff members of financial state of various projects.
  • Assisting and advising institute leadership and staff members of budgetary and related problems. Preparing for approval by department or division head initial budgetary recommendations by considering past requirements and expenditures and presenting program plans.
  • Resolving problems that have a significant impact on the overall goals of the department. Representing department in meetings and serving on committees representing the interests of the department.
  • Administering programs, ensuring ethical issues are communicated and resolved, and providing consultation for faculty and staff with unique situations.
  • Identifying areas for additional funding and opportunities for improvements by conducting research, networking with colleagues, and designing and delivering recommendations.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience required.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
