Lab and Research Technician 2 employees provide increasingly complex technical support for projects and may engage in increasingly complex scientific experiments. May handle more sophisticated administrative and logistical tasks. Lab and Research Technician 2 employees operate under supervision with a degree of independence when following set protocols and procedures.

The Parichy lab at University of Virginia (http://dparichy.as.virginia.edu/) seeks applicants for a Lab Tech 2 position for a 2-year project focusing on the development of molecular resources in the zebrafish system, using single cell RNA-sequencing, in situ hybridization and other approaches.

Experience in one or more of these areas is strongly preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

This full-time position will remain open until filled.

This is a restricted position contingent on continued funding.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Associate's degree. Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry and some prior experience with molecular biology, microscopy and imaging, or other methods of developmental biology or genomics preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of lab experience which may include student experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related science will be considered in lieu of experience.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.


COVID Vaccination Requirement
